Who is eligible to register a .AU domain?
Australian companies, organizations, citizens, and residents are eligible to register a .AU domain.
The domain name must be an exact match, abbreviation, or acronym of the registrant's name or closely related to the registrant. All .AU domains can be registered for up to 5 years. The domain name must be between two and 63 characters, cannot begin or end with a hyphen, contain a double hyphen or special characters.
The type of .AU domain available for registration will depend on the reason for eligibility.

What do I need to register a .AU domain?
The .AU registry requires TLD specific information for registration. These details will be validated by the registry, incorrect details will lead to registration failure. All .AU domains require an Australian address for registration. Australian government-issued ID Numbers such as Australian Business Number(ABN) or Australian Company Number(ACN) are required for all .AU domains except for .ID.AU.
To ensure the correct details are being used, lookup valid ABN or ACN using the Australian Business Register tool.

From the dropdown menu select the reason the registrant is eligible for the domain name. For example, if the registrant is using their company name to register the domain, then their reason for eligibility is company. |
Registrant ID |
Enter the registrant identifier number, this value must correspond with the registrant ID type (ACN or ABN). |
Registrant ID Type |
From the dropdown menu select either Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN). Select other for a .ID.AU domain. |
Registrant Name |
Enter the legal entity name. For example; the company name, incorporated association name or the individual's name. |
Policy Reason |
From the dropdown menu select the reason the registrant is entitled to use the domain name. |
How to register a .AU domain at Hover
- Look up the domain name you would like to register on the Hover homepage.
- Click on Add to cart.
- Select the shopping cart icon.
- Press Secure checkout.
- Fill in the registration information then press Save changes.
- Fill in all of the TLD specific information then select Continue.
- Enter your credit card details or log into your PayPal account then press Continue.
- Click inside the box to agree to the terms of service then press Submit order.
The order will complete shortly after and an order confirmation email will be sent to the account holder.
