Hello, this KB article doesn't address the difference between "add mail" and "add a mailbox" ... what is the difference?

There is an Add option for mail+.  This is an upgrade option.  Details on Mail+ can be found here:  https://help.hover.com/entries/21202437-how-to-upgrade-to-mail

My domain is registered for very many years. When I add a mailbox option, it's priced through the end of my registration. Going through the checkout process, it seems that I get charged the full prorated amount, and not just the amount for the first year. I cannot commit to the mailbox service for that long. Can I pay for just the first year? Or do I get a refund if cancelled mid term?

    Hey Caio,

The email expiration date is tied into the domain expiration date to make is easier for users to keep track of their services. With that said, we don't have the option to process a charge for just one year of email service. You can, however, purchase the mailboxes at the prorated price and give us a call if you decide to cancel the service. We'd love to help you out in any way we can.

So there is no way to go back to ZERO mailboxes?  That's not very friendly, especially considering how cool Hover usually is.

Hi Luke, I've just sent a reply to the email you sent to help@hover.com. I've removed the mailbox associated with your domain so you can renew for the domain registration alone.

    Hi Kevin,

Everything looks good on our end. If you're testing the new mailbox using the address that you are forwarding to, this will not work. This is to prevent a potential looping issue which would affect your mailbox, as well as emails between Hover and that provider. I've just sent you a test email. If you receive it- great. If not, please feel free to shoot us an email at help@hover.com.

I want to purchase a mail box but where does it give the option of choosing what the address will be? It only says that the mail box will be associated with the domain but there is no way to specify the address, for example, help@.

    Hi Kathleen,

You'll have the ability to specify the address after the purchase has been completed, using the "Create" button (link located beside the domain)  available through https://www.hover.com/mailboxes. If you have any troubles with this, please let me know.

If I want several email accounts, do they each need a different domain at Hover? This is for a family. Can the domain I 'buy' for email also be used for a blog?

    Hi Vicki,

You can purchase multiple email addresses for the same domain. Also, you can use the domain to point to a web-hosting provider and setup a blog as well. I've sent you an email with a couple of hosts I would suggest and you can reply to my email if there's anything I can help you with.

My daughter just got married and so I wanted to check on adding a new email address for her and her husband with the new last name.  How do I find out if it is even available?

    Hello,

To help combat data leaks and fraud, I'm planning to move to website-specific email addresses for all my commercial accounts.  So for example, my Amazon account would get an email address of amazon@mydomain.com, and eBay would get ebay@mydomain.com, etc.  It looks like the only way I can accomplish this through Hover is to purchase a large number of email forwards, is that correct?  I know Gmail will let you do this via something like myaddress+Amazon@gmail.com, where everything after the "+" is ignored.  That's not a perfect solution since the underlying address is still included, but it's a start.  Anyway, you see what I am looking to do.  Is there any way to do this through Hover other than a bulk purchase of forwards?

    Thanks!

    Hi Mark,

It sounds like you're referring to a catch-all email address and we do not offer those. You would have to purchase forward only addresses individually depending on the number of addresses you would like to create .

I purchased 5 "small" email accounts when I setup my domain, and only setup 3 emails. I am now trying to setup a fourth email, but the "Create" option is grayed out, and I don't see an "Add" option. I only see a "Buy More" option. Am I missing something in the Email tab?

    Hi Daniel,

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.

I see that you had spoken with a Hover representative yesterday who was able to get your settings corrected so you can add additional email accounts on your domain name.

Please feel free to get in contact with us again if there's anything else we can help you with.

    Hello,

I purchased one email address with 3 forwards. I've created the email address but... 1. I can't add the three email addresses to forward to 2. I'm trying to login to webmail but it fails.

    What am I missing?

    Hi Evelien,

I saw that you had sent in a help request to the Hover Help Center.  I've just emailed you a response, from help@hover.com.  Please keep an eye out for that message.  It contains instructions for signing into Webmail and setting up email forwarding.

    Hi Cassio,

Our email forwarding service merely allows for incoming email sent to one such address to be automatically relayed to a secondary email account to be retrieved and manage there.

If you wish to use Hover email accounts such as our Small Mailbox or Big Mailbox (source: https://www.hover.com) service, we can certainly help you to switch from Forward Only accounts.  Please feel free to send us an email at help@hover.com with the email accounts that you wish to upgrade if you are interested in doing so.

    Hi Raffi,

The Big Mailbox comes with a couple of features that the Small Mailbox doesn't have, such as a web based calendar and RSS feed.  However, the major difference between these two types of email accounts is that a Small Mailbox has 10 GB of storage capacity, whereas the Big Mailbox comes with 1 TB (source: https://www.hover.com/email).
