    Hi Neal,

After you open Apple Mail, you will need to update the password in two different fields.  The first is to ensure you can receive email, the second is to allow you to send email.

To update the password in your Incoming Server Settings, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts.  Choose your Hover email account and the password just needs to be entered once again below the Incoming Mail Server and your User Name.

The password for sending email is listed under Outgoing Mail Server, where you can select "Edit SMTP Server List".  This will display a new menu, where you just need to go to "Advanced" settings and ensure your user name and password are entered correctly there as well.

Please let me know if you run into any issues, and I'll help troubleshoot this issue with you further via email if you'd like.

Harald, are you using Avast! Antivirus by any chance? About a week ago they seem to have made an update to their Mail Shield which seems to be blocking mail.hover.com. If you are, you may need to disable that option to resolve the issue.

    Hello,

I have set up my new Hover email account on my Mac within Apple Mail using iMAP.

I have no errors setting up the account but yet the email address is not receiving anything and yet in my test email I can see it using the Hover WEB mail application. Additionally the icon for the mail account for being off line appears. I then take the account back on line but still no emails are being received nor any error messages.

All help is welcomed, thank you.

I seem to be having the same problem as everyone else here.  My mail was working fine for years and now it isn't connecting.  I've tried changing the ports (etc) that the other folks have.  Please help!!

Hi, I am once again having troubles with my Hover email on my Mac and my iPhone. They have both suddenly rejected the password (were operating fine earlier today).

I just logged in to the Webmail service with the correct password which did work, but twice gave the error message "unable to process your request" for some reason (I didn't try to do anything).

I tried changing my webmail password just now which said at first "Success" and then the same error message popped up... and entering the new password in Apple Mail and iPhone both had no effect, they still say it is the incorrect password.

I sent a test email to my Hover email from a different email which i can now see in my Webmail inbox, so that is still working.

Please advise on the password issue. This is my work email so I kinda need it operatory!

P.S. I am submitting this request here as the "Submit" button on your form to submit a help request isn't working!!

    Hi Neal,

When setting up your email account in Apple Mail, it is quite common for Apple Mail to populate the username settings with just the part of your email address which precedes the @ symbol.  If you go to Mail > Preferences, you can check to see if this may have been the case.  If so, make sure that the username is set to your full email address.

The username and password actually are required for sending mail through Hover. Just be sure to use SSL and the username/password will be encrypted. If adding the username/password doesn't help, however, please do let us know.

I have attempted to set up an account on Apple Mail numerous times and have checked and rechecked my email user name, password, and followed every tutorial listed in the above discussion and I am STILL unable to send OR receive any emails and constant receive messages stating "Cannot send message using the server mail.hover.com"... I am beyond frustrated at this point because I am unable to use a feature that I am paying for...

    Hi Kederli,

It looks like the problem was that your DNS wasn't properly set up for you to receive email, however, I can see Joel was able to get that sorted out for you last night, and your email should be coming through now.  :)

Hi everybody, I had some trouble with this same issue - my Hover email had hung on the send/receive of messages for a few days. A bit of a google search got me here. I'm not sure if it's related to Mavericks, but when I forced my outgoing SMTP mail server to use "Custom Port 465" everything started flowing again.

Hope that helps someone out there!

    Hi Guy,

The settings should be pretty similar to the ones listed above, and our email server settings will be the same in any email client.  I've copied those server settings below as a reference.

Email User Name:  Your full email address

Password:  your email password (as opposed to your management account password)

    Incoming Mail (IMAP):  mail.hover.com

    Outgoing Mail (SMTP):  mail.hover.com

    • The SSL setting for both incoming and outgoing mail is completely optional
    • The “outgoing mail server requires authentication” setting needs to be on
    • Secure Password Authentication should not be enabled

    Server Ports

IMAP:  993 (SSL enabled) or 143 (SSL disabled)

SMTP:  465 (SSL enabled); 25, 587, or 8025 (SSL disabled)

I'll send you an email from help@hover.com to follow-up.  If you're encountering any issues, please do get back to me and I'd be happy to work with you to get any issue with your Apple Mail email client resolved.

I just set up my hover mail in Apple Mail as POP mail and it is working fine. I have several different email accounts and several different devices and it's always a little bit tricky to get everything to work together the way I want. The one feature I would like to see with Hover POP is to have my outgoing email automatically saved to hover webmail. That way other devices that check using IMAP can see the mail I sent from my Mac. Is there any way to make mail.hover.com automatically save sent POP mail?

I am unable to add my SECOND Hover email. (different domain).

Yosemite gives me an error that says:

"The servers marked with alert icons are in conflict and cannot be saved. Two servers cannot share the same address and authentication settings. Resolve the conflicts and try again."

Can you help with THIS one?

Oh an extra note which may help - I can successfully send emails FROM my Hover address through Mail, but not receive them... and now the error message is stopping all completely.

On my iPhone, even though I followed your instructions exactly on your Configure For iPhone instruction page, at first it won't save as it says the username & password are incorrect... and then it lets me save but warns "this account may not be able to send or receive any messages".

That can only be done if you're using IMAP, Bruce. There's no way to do that with POP.

    Hi Marcus,

It sounds like you may have two Hover outgoing serves in your server list.  You may need to delete one of them.

Go to the Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Outgoing Mail Server

Click on the drop-down list and choose "Edit Server List"

This should bring up a window with a list showing the two identical servers

Click on one of them and then click on the - (minus) button below the list to remove the server you've chosen to get rid of.

Let me know if this resolves the issue.  If not, we have your help request as well so someone will be in touch with you there as well for further follow up.

Hey everyone, I just want to let you all know what my problem was (as it may be affecting you as well). I found out that you cannot have spaces in your password. While it works fine in webmail, Apple mail can't handle it.
