How to: Use Hover email from Yahoo!

Would you like to send and receive email using a personalized email address such as instead of a branded webmail account like  This tutorial will show you how to add your Hover email address to Yahoo! so you can use it as the from address when sending outgoing mail:

  1. Before you complete the steps in this lesson, you will need to configure your Hover Email account to forward messages to your Yahoo! email address.  If you haven't done this already, click here for step-by-step instructions.
  2. Visit and sign in with your Yahoo! ID and password.

  3. Click on Options and select Mail Options.

  4. Select the Mail Accounts option on the left, then click on the Add button.

  5. Enter the following settings:

    Account name:  Enter any name for your Hover email account, such as Hover Email.
    Email address:  Enter your Hover email address.

    Click Continue.
  6. Click on the Skip this, setup to Send only.

  7. Click OK at the bottom of the Add Account window. 

    After a few minutes you should receive an email from Yahoo! Member Services with an email address confirmation link.  Click on the link to verify your Hover email address then you will be able to send email in Yahoo! using your Hover email address.  Simply select your Hover email address from the From list when you are composing a new email.  Your recipients will never know the difference!

I have purchased a "forwarding email" to accompany my domain purchase. I've also set-up the Yahoo email account so that email sent shows that it is sent from "" & not from the domain; exactly as the link on the site explains:

Actually it works seamlessly & perfect with emails sent from the Yahoo website & from the Yahoo app on my phone. The problem is that it always sends using the Yahoo domain when using Outlook! It never sends emails showing my domain email.

I'm attaching two screenshots of my Outlook settings & a test email I've sent.

Can you help?

Can someone please update this tutorial to reflect the way that Yahoo currently looks and works.  I have tried to add my Hover/DomainDirect account as an alternative sender but keep getting the message "Not Verified".  Thanks.
