This tutorial will show you how to register new domains in Hover. Click on one of the links below to skip to the appropriate section:

Registering a domain name in a new Hover account

1. Visit hover.com

2. In the text box, enter the name you want to register, or enter keywords for suggestions, and then click the search icon.

A list of available extensions and suggestions appears. Domain names with a gold star next to them are premium domain names that have already been registered and are available for purchase from a private domain portfolio. For more information about premium domains, see the FAQ article on Hover premium domains.

3. Click the ADD TO CART button to add a domain name to your shopping cart.

4. Click PROCEED TO CHECKOUT.

Whois Privacy (where supported) is included with every domain registered with Hover for no extra charge. If you don't want Whois Privacy, click to remove the checkmark from the checkbox.

5. Click Checkout.

6. In the Create an account section, enter your first and last name, email address, a username for your Hover account, and a password to use with your Hover account.

If your choice of username has already been taken, you will see an error message.

7. All registered domain names require a registration record. You can register the domain under the name of an individual or an organization. Your domain's registration record can be different from your billing information. Fill in the appropriate fields and hit Continue.

Note: If you are not an organization, you can enter your first and last name. If you are registering this domain for an organization be sure the organization name is more than four (4) characters in length.

8. Click the associated button to select either Use credit card or Use PayPal as the way in which you want to save your billing information. If you select PayPal, a pop-up window appears asking you to log in to your PayPal account. Please check out this article to learn how to set up PayPal with Hover.

If you are paying by credit card, enter your credit card billing information, and then click Continue at the bottom of the page.

9. Click to put a checkmark next to I have read and agree to the Terms of Service, and then click PURCHASE NOW.

An order confirmation is displayed.

10. Click Continue.

Your domain registration is now complete!

Hi Rod, promo codes can be entered in the shopping cart when checking out. Keep in mind that promo codes can only be used for the first order in a new account.

So existing Hover customers can't use Promo codes when ordering NEW domain names with their existing accounts?

That's correct, promo codes are only available for the first purchase in new accounts. On the bright side, we have implemented a new tiered volume discount program so you can get automatic discounts on renewals. You can use the following link to determine if you would qualify for an automatic discount:  http://www.hover.com/blog/introducing-volume-discounts-on-domain-renewals/

Am I the only one that doesn't see an Add New button on the Manage Your Domains page?  I have to click into a domain in order to have it appear.   Just an FYI.

Hi Nate, we're consistently making updates to the account in order to improve it. The button has been temporarily removed but you can click the hover logo at the top left of your account to register a new domain.

Hi Chunhua,

.SE is the official country code Top-Level-Domain (ccTLD) of Sweden.   These domains are generally used by companies or private entities who are located in Sweden or who have business relationships with Sweden.

In order to register one of these domains, a valid ID number is required, and for companies located in EU member states (not in Sweden) they must provide a VAT number. These domains are not available to anyone else.
