Renewing Hover Services

This tutorial will guide you through the process of renewing your hover services.

Log into hover

Go to www.hover.com then click on the login link and log in with your hover username and password.

Select the Domain to Renew

Click on the Services tab and click on the domain or email services to be renewed.

Expired Domains

If your services are already expired, you will see a screen similar to the one above after clicking on your domain or email address. If this happens, click Continue under Renew This Domain. In this tutorial, you can skip ahead to the section titled "Enter Billing Information."

If your services aren't already expired, click on the Account tab then click on the plus sign next to Account Details.

In the Account Details you will see a list of recent orders, the service expiration date, and a Renew link for the service being managed. Click on Renew.

Click Proceed.

Enter Billing Information

Choose an expiration date from the drop-down list. The billing summary will update the cost of the renewal.

Enter the name and billing address for your credit card account. It is important to enter the name and address as it appears on your credit card statements. Mismatched information might trigger our anti-fraud controls to reject your payment.

Select the credit card saved on your account, or enter a new credit card, then click Continue.

Payment Confirmation

Click on Finish to confirm your payment and process the service renewal.

The new service expiration date can be viewed under the Services tab.

Does renewing the Hover service also renew the domain name?

    Great question Matt!

Any domains that are registered through Hover are automatically renewed with your Hover service renewals.

If you bought Hover services for domain names that are registered through another registrar, then your renewal will only add a year to your Hover services, not your domain registration.

I just renewed one of my clients web domains.... how long before it takes effect and the web page returns

@David - when an expired domain is renewed we update the expiration date at the registry immediately, but DNS propagation causes delays in the return of the hosted website. Basically, after an Internet Provider updates their DNS server their customers will see the website back up again.

You can find a neat third party DNS propagation checker tool at this URL: http://www.whatsmydns.net/
