This article will show you how to configure your Hover domain for use with Squarespace website hosting services and provides links to helpful tutorials from Squarespace.com.

Click on a link below to go to the tutorial:

Point your Hover domain at Squarespace

  1. Visit http://www.squarespace.com/ and click on Member Login.

  2. Log in with your Squarespace login name and password.

  3. Click on Website Management at the top-left corner.

  4. Click on Custom Domain

  5. Click on Link Domain.

  6. Type in your domain name and then click Add.

  7. A message will be displayed that the domain is not pointing correctly to Squarespace.  We will return to this page after configuring your domain's DNS records in Hover to recheck the domain.

Setup your DNS Records in Hover

  1. Visit https://www.hover.com/signin and sign in with your Hover username and password.

  2. If you have more then one domain name in your Hover.com account, click on the domain name that you are using with Squarespace to take you to the Domain Details page.

  3. Under Domain Details, check your nameservers to make sure they are pointed at ns1.hover.com and ns2.hover.com.  If you need help changing your nameservers, click here for a tutorial.

  4. Click on the DNS tab.

  5. To point your domain at Sqaurespace, two A records need to be updated, the blank record (@) for your root domain, and the wildcard record (*) for sub domains (i.e. www.yourdomain.com).

Mouseover the @ entry for your domain's A record and click on edit DNS.

  6. Enter the following IP address in the text box and then click Save:  65.39.205.54

  7. Mouseover the * entry for your domain's A record and click on edit DNS.

  8. Enter the following IP address in the text box and then click Save:  65.39.205.54

  9. As pictured below, both A records for the domain are now pointed at Sqaurespace's IP address, 65.39.205.54.

Check Your Setup in Squarespace

Go back to your Squarespace account and click on the Recheck Status button.  If you continue to receive an error, try again later.  Changes to DNS records could take anywhere from 15 minutes to 48 hours to take effect.  Once the check is successful, you will see your domain name displayed as pictured below:
